Der 73-jährige Moritz backt das erste Mal in seinem Leben einen Kuchen. Es ist früher Morgen, er hat einen Kater und seine Knochen schmerzen. Doch für seine Liebe ist ihm kein Opfer zu groß.

Frühmorgens backt der 73-jährige Moritz das erste Mal in seinem Leben einen Kuchen – aus Liebe. Geschickt spielt der Filmemacher Axel Ranisch mit den Erwartungshaltungen der Zuschauer – und lässt seinen Kurzfilm mit einer überraschenden Pointe enden. Das alles ist formal gelungen, ohne Längen, auf den Punkt gebracht, bricht mit gängigen Vorurteilen und ist obendrein noch witzig.

Synopsis

The ticking of the clock is the loudest sound filling the room.
There is tension due to words unspoken and unventured attempts.
In fours scenes, this movie depicts the difficulty to love if there is noting – or even far too much – left to talk about.

A man and a woman on a balcony; although sitting next to each other, they could not possibly be further away from one another.

While he is drumming his fingers on his lap starring into emptiness, she is trying to get closer to him by cuddling up. The more intense the advances are, the bigger the rejection gets.

In that way, situations of daily life such as coming home after a party. dining in the kitchen or sitting in the sun on the balcony, turn into a real test.
The emptiness between the two is almost as if one could cut the atmosphere with a knife. The main characters remain uncertain: Is this what resembles the end of their relationship or is it nothing else but a journey downstream?

This chamber play does not only reflect the director’s experiences; also the audience will recognize certain familiar incidents. Two characters, an apartment’s confinement and a relationship that is longing to end.
